Dumb. In the modern era people forget one important fact: *women are the only ones who can have babies.* Ukraine already has a demographic problem. Any code of ethics that does not start with “women and children first” is stupid and self-defeating.
While I get the concerns that others have as far as a sort of population bottleneck, I for one am glad to see this. Ukraine is about to surpass every other nation on earth as far as the number of women serving. This isn’t just happening because of defense; it’s emblematic of the change in Ukrainian society, as many scholars and Ukrainians themselves have pointed out. They’re embracing liberalization of their society at a rate that, to my knowledge, has never been seen before. It’s kind of amazing to watch. Ukraine was always more of an equal society, and laid the seeds for this a long time ago. But it’s incredible to see it come to fruition, so quickly.
To simplify, one healthy male can impregnate a hundred women in, say, 100 days. That gives a nation about 100 new citizens in 9 months.
One woman and a 100 men will still result with only 1 baby after 9 months. Say what you want, but since the dawn of time women have always been protected for this very reason. It’s nature and pure math, leading to survival of nations/tribes/humanity as a whole.
I hate to say it being a man myself, but in nature a life of a man is way more expendable than that of a woman.
I probably would move to Ukraine once the war is over. That’s unless the war is won by Ukraine and not Russia. Probably will be very affordable living and a new growing economy. Honestly with the west help Ukrainian can be one of if not the wealthiest counties in Europe at some point in time.
This is so depressing.
