  1. Sea turtles are endangered, stop eating. And if eating them is a tradition in your culture then you need to end the tradition.

  2. Tried Shark meat once, couldn’t eat any meat after that for 2 weeks.

  3. Narrator: It wasn’t the meat. It was the other sea turtles with the P-90s that came to avenge their friend.

  4. It was from chelonitoxism, a type of food poisoning.

    Saved you a click

  5. I thought sea turtle toxins would work a lot more slowly (turtle joke!🤣)

  6. Imagine being so fucken dumb you let your children eat food that is known to kill. Jesus Christ.

  7. Chicken, Turkey, Beef, Lamb, Fish, Crustaceans, Pork.  That’s it.  That is the meat menu. Leave everything else alone.

  8. First they were like wwwwhoa, and then they were like whoooah, and then they were like whoa

  9. People should read the article before condoning and celebrating the deaths of 8 children. Do the work. Don’t be assholes.

  10. >Chelonitoxism or chelonitoxication is a type of food poisoning which occasionally results from eating turtles, particularly marine turtles, in the region of the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans

    [Chelonitoxism wiki](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chelonitoxism)

    TLDR : don’t eat turtles

  11. Why people eat such weird food, there is also those crazy people that like to eat pufferfish which is very dangerous to eat

  12. Stop eating random animals ! The World doesnt need another Covid

  13. Read the headline and was immediately thinking it was related to Metal gear solid

  14. comments here like omg i cant believe ppl who live on a tiny african island would do this

  15. Cue Billy Joel, “Zanzibar” when reading the comments.

  16. They likely ate a hawksbill sea turtle. Very few sea turtles become poisonous for consumption, but the hawksbill does because it feeds on toxic sponges as part of its diet.

The hawksbill are critically endangered, and their biggest threats are poaching for its shell, consumption of meat, and entanglement/accidental catch.

You can eat them safely the majority of the time, but if you take a turtle that has consumed that specific sponge then even after cooking the meat will be deadly.

Do yourself a favor and never eat endangered animals

  17. This happens pretty regularly… like every few years…. very surprised that they keep eating sea turtles. What is the education system like over there?

  18. Near the end of the wiki: While standard hospital toxicology screens detected no known toxins, stomach contents of hospitalized patients fed to small laboratory animals killed the animals.

  19. Soooo many people sitting on their high horses in here, who probably are JUST now finding out that eating sea turtles is potentially deadly. Expecting this to be some kind of common sense.
