  1. I wonder if they just mean the Brits, which I think the news broke about them last week, maybe two?

  2. >Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski surprised with a statement about the presence of NATO troops in Ukraine.

    >”Soldiers from NATO countries are already in Ukraine. I would like to thank the countries that are taking this risk. They know who they are,” Sikorski said

PR wise, this is exactly what Russia wants to be able to point to for their audience in Russia.

  3. It wouldn’t be all too surprising that the NATO soldiers in Ukraine are either special forces tasked with protecting ministers and presidents as they arrive in Ukraine or protecting the embassies.

It is known that some NATO soldiers are in Ukraine in non-combat roles such as logistics and training.

Nothing major. This is just a move to call out Russia’s bluff

  4. I hated the thought of Ukrainians being alone and abandoned and I’m glad someone has their back. Hope they can take the fight to Moscow. Down with Putin.

  5. The only foreign government with uninvited troops in Ukraine is Russia.

  6. I would be more concerned if there weren’t NATO personnel on the ground in Ukraine. We have a golden opportunity to stop the expansion of Russian aggression and would be complete fools not to act.

No negotiation with or appeasement of dictators, full stop.

  7. Just individual off-duty NATO soldiers were there from very beginning. It would be nice to have regiment sized involvement. Maybe organize some Ukraine-NATO exercise (I don’t know the legalities of things but there’s no war going on according neither Russia nor Ukraine)

According to Russia, they are already fighting NATO. What would they do, threaten a nuclear strike? I’m sure that intelligence is so tight around nukes that NATO would know about real movements in that direction before Putin wakes up with the hint of inclination.

  8. How many US personnel have been killed in Ukraine so far?

  9. I don’t think yelling up about it was part of the plan

  10. From “it is not happening” to “of course it is happening” in no time.

  11. -There are no NATO soldiers in Ukraine

-There are a small number of volunteers

    -There are patriot operators

    -NATO soldiers are in Ukraine

    You are here

  12. Add more, place them into combat roles and kick the Russians back to the border

  13. I wonder how many military contractors there are in Ukraine. They could be paid to do a lot of dirty work without technically being NATO troops.

  14. Aside from special forces, I wouldn’t be surprised if there were a handful of marines in Kyiv rn, given that protecting embassies is one of the corps’ duties

  15. This guy is just taking a piss on everything, last couple of day’s he just reminded left wing that we don’t want to disrespect gender… When we will do general mobilisation to army

  16. Does this surprise anyone? they have probably been there since the first few weeks. not everything gets announced on twitter.

  17. Russians have Chinese and Indians doing the dirty work. So why is this an issue to Putin?

  18. Sure as weapons trainers and contractors, or joined the chosen unit or a similar equivalent that is part of Ukraine’s armed forces. When France starts sending in the legion, or USA sends in seals or green berets then that’s something. (Again army rangers are already there for weapons training and procurement procedures).

  19. I know a few uk sf guys who have been in country since the war started. They were under instructions to not seek out contact with the Russians but to defend themselves if necessary. Obviously they wouldn’t say exactly what it was they were doing out there but it was fairly close to the front lines.

  20. In limited roles such as training, strategic planning and fact finding missions, sure. Plenty of countries have confirmed that already.

What we need is large amounts of force in a combat capacity. And given the shifting stance of France and Poland in particular, that could come soon.

  21. It would be weird if they weren’t. Ukraine is a sovereign nation with a friendly leaning toward the West. Nato is the world’s pre-eminent military power and is tasked with protecting Europe.

To do its job it must have at least some troops in Ukraine. That’s normal.

We’re not fighting on the frontlines and if we ever do, Putin will know. He’ll start immediately getting eye-watering reports put into his hands of staggering losses from fleeing troops abandoning their posts.

  22. If we’re talking totals , and the leaked list is correct, there is only about 100 soldiers with and half of the (53) from the UK

  23. Thank you captain obvious. I think even my cat knew that.

  24. Likely Military advisors from the Baltic States, Poland and possibly Finland. Obviously Germany is not involved

  25. I think this is inevitable now… we’re about to experience something on a scale we haven’t seen since the 40s

  26. So does anyone want to do an accounting re Putin’s claim NATO has been at war against Russia?

If it trains NATO, if it fires NATO arms, if NATO logistics are used , if NATO has boots on the ground; it’s just NATO isn’t it?

So the NATO proxy was harrying ethnic Russians who legally resisted what they considered to be a sham election?

Despite ‘Russian red lines’ of no Eastward NATO progression, and despite NATO’s belligerent and violent MO (Libya, Yugoslavia, member contributions to ME wars, etc), Russia only acted as Ukraine positioned itself to subjugate the rebelling states.

The world would be utopian if the United States had a single percent the dignity and integrity of the Russian state which was pursuant diplomacy up to and beyond the start of the war. Minsk was verified as a falsity perpetrated by the NATO coalition to buy time to beef Ukraine to slam into Russia, Merkel herself admitted such – a cosignatory, and Russia recalled it’s Kyiv encirclement as a good faith gesture for the Istanbul negotiations – which succeeded until Boris Johnson intervened. That is why a military solution is all that’s left according to Russia because if treatises with NATO nations are worthless then you have to create the conditions to impose your perceived security necessities.

Ukraine is a NATO sacrifice to weaken Russia. It is a tragedy we have been incapable of bringing the warmongers in the West to heel.

  27. i mean, germany got caught red handed so yes they are

  28. So just say some nato soldiers are killed in a bombing or something near or at the frontlines and their bodies identified, whats the repercussions for this? I understand people fighting via proxy but what happens when its a direct involvment?

  29. I’d bet that a majority of European & Western countries have special forces operating in Ukraine

  30. Uhh. Yeah. Aside from volunteers, the UK, Canada, Denmark, Sweden and US have had troops there training Ukrainian officers since like 2014, following the annexation of Crimea. This has been well known for a while, why is this a surprise?

  31. Why not announce it? What are they afraid of? Why not another “coalition of the willing”?
