I mean, they really weren’t even that different. Were it not for the QVC sidebar bit, you almost wouldn’t be able to tell which one was which.

ScarJo really nailed it. I didn’t even know it was her. For the first few seconds especially, I thought they might just literally be playing the tape.
It was an excellent sketch made all the better by the actress who played the part.
I honestly thought Johansson was too toned down compared to what she was parodying. Katie’s speech performance was already so over the top with camp, to parody it you needed MadTV level of caricature acting.
The best part of the SNL skit was how Biden cut his speech short because hers was so much better for the dems.

SNL is a damned curse. We all remember them making fun of Trump in 2016. Making fun of Kavanaugh. It’s not funny now, is it.
I didn’t watch Britt past the first 30 seconds initially, until after the SNL cold open. I wanted a point of comparison to appreciate the parody fully. Going back and watching it was eye opening. Yes it was overdone and manipulative, but I can also totally see this being compelling for some family members of mine who have bought into Christian Nationalism. While it’s easy to laugh at it, we need to treat this threat seriously.
The original was a better skit than the SNL skit.
