They have dragged this out far longer than what was supposed to be possible.People are dying by the thousands, Ukraine isn’t winning its being beaten like a dead horse. While Zelensky sits in his office and snorts smack all day, his people are dying and truth be told he could probably care less. The pope comes out and offers what is likely the only solution to an ongoing campaign of bloodshed and he’s slammed for it.

  38. Clearly not a popular opinion here.  This is something I’ve been wondering about lately though. I know from the West’s POV, having Ukraine continue to bleed Russia is in our best interest. 

    But is it in the best interest of the the folks in Ukraine? The war unfortunately seems lost for them at this point. Especially with support starting to decrease in the countries that have been supplying them up till now.  I know it sucks and it’s a shitty thing to suggest, but would the actual people who are dying be better off if Ukraine cut it’s losses and found a path to peace?

    When he condemned Russia for starting this they didn’t care much either, I think the pope forgot that Ukraine and Russia are Eastern Orthodox not catholics, so it’s not like they are very interested in what he has to say in the first place.

  43. No one mentioned that the Pope believed Russia wasn’t totally in the wrong in invading Ukraine as NATO was “barking at Russia’s door” with its eastward expansion.
