  1. Title is a bit misleading. It’s 5.7€ over a course of 6 years and 1.5€ last year

  2. And that will be their ongoing excuse for even further deterioration in the service; “Ah Jesus, the fines crippled us. How are we supposed to run a service while havin’ to pay out fines all the time…?“

  3. It’s probably cheaper for them to take the hit than fix their service issues.

  4. BusConnects shouldn’t have been allowed to be neutered by nimbys. Not that feedback and considerations should have been forbidden, but they should have been challenged more, with far less weight given to any complaints based on the scheme’s inconvenience to cars.

That and management should be penalised directly. The ones near the top still make over €100k despite the fines.

  5. This is real genius. The public will have to pay extra because the service is terrible, and Bus Eireann can use the fine as an excuse for continuing terrible service. Beautiful.

  6. What about Dublin bus?

Never seen a more incompetent department before, presumably they would ignore fines as there is no alternative

  7. Who gets the money then

What do fines even matter when they basically pay the fines to the people who pay them

  8. The people who pay the fare have been fined. The company only has money because of its customers.

  9. If only they put that 5.7m into the pockets of drivers and looking after their buses then they wouldn’t have anyone down their throats

  10. They should be fined daily until they fix this. The government are hell bent on getting cars off the road yet little seems to be done to actually enable that. No airport train, unreliable bus services, a taxi industry holding on by dear life. It’s a very very confusing country.
