I have read the proposed text changes to the Irish constitution and they seemed appropriate to me. You can see them yourself in the image on this post.

My view on the referendum result is that it was similar to that for Brexit. I would argue that instead of a rational analysis of the actual proposals this vote was largely a protest against wider social change and immigration.

Immigration isn’t in any significant way related to the proposed changes, but people have picked a tribe and will vote along tribal lines regardless of the actual content of the ticket.

This referendum result hurts Irelands image as a modern state and promotes the misogynistic, racist, xenophobic and sectarian section of Irish society. A section that I am surprised to see doing so well in what I think of as a liberal populace.

To me this illustrates the need for appropriate social housing to be built, Ireland is for the most part underpopulated, but I understand the frustration of the Irish over this issue.

Hate is never the answer. Be that Brexit or this result.
