And to think this station wasn’t even on the original plans for the line. It probably needs another entrance / exit added, along with increased train frequency.
Not surprised by this, in December 2022, Southeastern made a stupid decision to alter train services from Woolwich Arsenal, they axed all Charing Cross trains which was a popular service even post Elizabeth line opening.
This also effected neighbouring rail lines to; the Bexleyheath line lost its Charing Cross trains, so what you’ve got is people who’d normally use Southeastern from either the Woolwich or Bexleyheath lines have essentially switched to the Elizabeth line at Woolwich, because of the poor service offered by Southeastern.
Hence why it’s so busy now, the Elizabeth line has its issues but it’s far superior compared to the worthless Cannon Street and Thameslink services
I read an article that said that all the seats are taken by the time it leaves Woolwich. And it’s only the second stop on the line. Definitely a much needed addition to the area and Abbey Wood.
