1) 9 years isn’t nearly enough.
2) Why are people allowed to carry out sentences concurrently?
This whole story is wild. Man broke into five different houses prowling student accommodation for drunk women to rape during UCC rag week, has shown no remorse or empathy, yet gets a meagre 9 year sentence.
This is a story I’m praying my girlfriend doesn’t even see because I know how much it’ll affect her, and yet Kamal Kumar Nepali will be back on the streets in a few years time like nothing ever happened as the 9 year sentence is backdated to his arrest in July 2022 and being run concurrent with his other sentences, some of which alone were 5 years.
And will he get deported or na?
I don’t think that character references should be allowed in these kinds of cases. The defendant in this case was clearly planning to sexually assault and/or rape people. No amount of “Well, he’s a good guy really(….)” is going to change that.
Why should his young age and lack of prior convictions matter when he’s committed heinous crimes that he has no remorse for?
He should serve full term and be deported immediately once the term has ended.
9 years isn’t long enough

“ The woman became hysterical…”
‘Hysterical’ would imply out-of-control. manic behaviour.
Sounds like she was rightfully frightened, panicked and angry, but responded in a rational manner.
Unless a psychiatrist from the 1920s was in the room to diagnose her with ‘hysteria’, then the writer is using an outdated and (often) sexist term.
As for the rapist, he’ll be released at age 34, well capable of reoffending. That’s way way too soon.
>Mr Justice Michael McGrath said Nepali had shown no remorse or regret or any empathy for his victim and did not accept the jury’s verdict.
We should bring in the electric chair for these cunts
Ireland talks enough crap about how bad we are in the US. Well at least we treat our rape victims better than 9 days! 😤
That’s some night stalker shit. Let him rot.
Absolute trash. They’re the reason women are afraid to go out alone in the evenings and what’s it getting, 9 years? Sick of it. It should not ever be released into society ever again. Mental institution or jail again, anywhere but released back to freedom.
“Sentences of between one month and five years were imposed for the other offences which will be served at the same time.”
So he gets nice concurrent sentences even though he’s shown no remorse and refuses to accept the verdict.
