I know it’s probably way more complicated and difficult than I’m imagining, but once it was obvious the Russians were never going to make it to Odessa why didn’t Moldova just take back Transnistria? They’d get bombed, but what if they negotiated with the West first and were given ample supply of defense weaponry?
