Twelve Ukrainian pilots are expected to be ready to fly F-16s in combat by this summer, the New York Times reported.
However, as few as six fighter jets are expected to be delivered in time.
In total, European allies have pledged to supply 45 of the jets to Ukraine, with Denmark set to deliver the first six planes in late Spring.
Training for Ukrainian pilots began last August at Skrydstrup Air Base in southern Denmark, but deficiencies in language skills and knowledge of Western flying techniques have reportedly slowed things down.
Ukrainian pilots are currently waiting for fighter jets and pilot instructors at a new training centre at the Fătesti airbase in southern Romania, the NY Times said, but it is unclear when they will begin their lessons.
In August, Washington assured European allies that the United States will expedite the transfer of F-16s to Ukraine when the pilots are trained.

Hopefully ukraine has enough air defense missiles for their arrival, Russia has quite obviously been saving up missiles and drones probably for the arrival of F16s if they save up a 400 missile and drone Salvo its likely they will b able to take out ukraines airfields out for awhile and most likely the f16s too if they can’t get airborne in time

Now we know what the ‘F’ stands for.
They really need to stop throwing western kit in piecemeal. Western gear requires it to be used in a specific combined arms force structure to get the best results. Having Abrams out solo reacting to contact is the grossest misallocation of wartime resources I have seen so far. The Abrams will always fail in solo engagements against a defensive position and so will the F16. A lot of my buddies were in Ukraine with the 101st airborne before the in invasion as combat advisors and each of them said the same thing. The Ukrainian’s force structure is such a Frankensteins monster of western and eastern doctrine that it’s nearly impossible to implement into a functional offensive force design.
I hope that the dipshits in power will not make any announcements. Let the Russians find out when all their stuff starts blowing up.

Part of war is having planes get shot down, it’s gonna be really sad when these eventually do. I hope they can really make a difference, but I mainly assume that it will be a game changer for SEAD and destroying their S-400 and S-300 with the improved capabilities that can’t be used on the AGM-88 strapped onto a mig-29
