On the back of Doku’s late penalty shout yesterday, with the outcry for high foot, disgraceful follow through, where Doku caught Macallister in the chest as he pulled his high foot away. For me personally it was very 50/50 and whatever decision the ref gave it would be fair to one team and unfair to the other. For balance, on the back of everyones adament cries for penalty, I thought I’d have a look at how the Liverpool sub responded to the similar, higher foot, that Mane planted on Edersons face a few years ago. (As football fans we are all as bad as each other with the tinted spectacles, its just funny to see so clearly sometimes!)

  1. They all forget that after Ederson was taken off the pitch Bravo came on and I’m pretty sure the statistics for him was if you had a shot on goal it would go in.

So basically we went down to 10 men too.

Just leave them to whinge and moan, they get dubious decisions go their way too and nothing is going to change the outcome now.

  2. It would be kinda funny if they tied with arsenal for most points and lost on goal difference.

  3. It’s a 50/50 at best

Outside the box it’s definitely a freekick and a yellow card for dangerous play, but we all know players and goalkeepers are given some liberty when defending in their box AS LONG AS THEY HIT THE BALL FIRST BEFORE THEY HIT THE MAN

Doku hit the ball first before he hit the man even though it was dangerous play.

No doubt, some refs would call that as a penalty but it no way would it be a 100% penalty call.

I would argue 80% of the time that challenge in the box won’t be given as a penalty… because it occurred in the box

  4. Not a pen from a red. You can’t argue though with the players we had missing we had no right to outperform city. Pep too cautious taking KDB off. I was convinced you’d nab a winner late on though and you almost did 😬

  5. Not one of them say it shouldn’t be a foul, they’re saying it shouldn’t have been a red card. I disagree as Mane’s foot was high and obviously caught Ederson in the face rather than the chest but regardless a high foot that connects with an opponent is dangerous where ever it is on the pitch.

  6. The Scousers are massive hypocrits and always play the victim.

  7. you had to scroll down to comments with a single upvote to find those comments…

  8. I don’t really understand the point you’re trying to make. Not one of those comments says Mane’s challenge wasn’t a foul. I also don’t think many people were calling for a red for Doku, just a foul.

  9. Don’t bother yourself with what scousers say. Whether online or IRL they are the absolute kings of portraying a victim mentality with a great big dollop of delusion. Every year will be their year, they deserve it more, it means more to them, they so everything the right way and everyone else cheata. Boo hiss refs and the FA hate us wah wah wah.

Source: Half my family are scouse, so I know. I’ve genuinely received dogs abuse (from a family member) because we beat them. That was in 2013 before we were even considered rivals.

  10. Even if Liverpool won they’d be still whining about something. It’s what they’ll do. Save yourself the trouble and just accept that they’ll do that.

  11. I think what shifted my thought is that it’d be a call elsewhere on the pitch

  12. I don’t want to be rude, but how are you comparing “no foul” to “not a red”. You can maybe debate if he needs to receive a yellow, a red, or no card, but that is a foul any time of the day. And a foul in the box is a penalty

  13. You don’t understand, Mane would have totally scored stretching for it at head height at the edge of the box. That makes it totally fine /s

  14. This post is daft, no one’s saying doku should’ve gotten a red.

  15. They also possess this amazing ability to forget every dodgy decision that’s gone their way this season. I mean they literally got handed possession of the ball by mistake, seconds before their winner vs Forest. That was eight DAYS ago.

  16. Fucking hate Liverpool fans like I’ve hates no one else
