I am traveling outside Europe when I landed I spent about 4 hours with my phone on, roaming on in those 4 hours I just sent 3 WhatsApp messages and received one 10 seconds call, I did not use any app, I guess some may have been running in the background but nothing in the foreground ! then I turned off the data and switched to WiFi ever since, and today I get this message for 50€ for that little time I used it. I just find it excessive, should I pay it or should I fight it ?

You used a service, you pay for it. Deactivate roaming by default and only turn it on when you need it to avoid this.
There is no reason to fight it because you did use roaming outside of the EU.
Next time: Disable your mobile data connection as soon as you come near non EU Border.
That looks like an App updated. You still get the same costs with some providers in Switzerland still.
You can not fight this, no. See it as “tuition” to learn about roaming fees. Let me guess, Switzerland?
It’s a common gotcha, but it’s watertight. Consider this the price of education and next book the package that gives you appropriate roaming data.
I had O2 pull this shit on me, so I cancelled the contract and went with prepaid. So then I put some 10 eur on it and that’s all they can get.
At least it’s only 50€, would’ve been far worse before the EU forbid charging more during roaming without further explicit consent. You could’ve checked before to see that the roaming charges are outrages (Some have insane prices like 25ct per 20KiB), you didn’t, but at least it won’t ruin you.
Use it as lesson learned and move on, don’t feel too bad about it.
