Hey Guys!

As the title says: I want to become a German citizen but I have some questions regarding the requirments and the process as a whole:

First things first: I want to become a German citizen by “Ermessenseinbürgerung” and not the regular one. My first question would be: What does that exactly mean? It sounds to me like a government employee will just decide if I become a citizen if he has a good day and feels like granting someone citizenship or does it mean that if I fullfill the criteria that I am going to become a citizen of Germany? Do I have the right to object their refusal of granting me citizenship?

The reason why I am going to apply through the “Ermessenseinbürgerung” is because I am a Swiss citizen who has lived in the German speaking area of Switzerland and thus I can get citizenship after only 4 years of legal residence (my residence in Germany is legal because I also have an EU citizenship as well). This is stated in 8.1.3.4. in [this document](https://www.verwaltungsvorschriften-im-internet.de/bsvwvbund_13122000_V612400513.htm). Now the thing is that I have left Germany in December 2021 and will return in just a few weeks and I have read (in the same document) that being absent from Germany is no big deal as long as I am not gone for more than 6 months, right? I mean it does say for the 8 year period in 89.1.1. but I guess that this counts for everyone, including myself because in 8.1.2.2 [another document](https://www.bmi.bund.de/SharedDocs/downloads/DE/veroeffentlichungen/themen/verfassung/stag-anwendungshinweise-06-15.pdf?__blob=publicationFile&v=5) it states that I can “transfer” up to 5 years of legal residence in case of going abroad. Does that apply to my case?

The other big topic is income and money. I have studied at a German university from 2016-2021 and during that time, I did not work and my parents provided financial help. I did not receive nor apply for Bafög, ALG I or II, for scholarship or any other form of Government welfare. Does not working and not providing for myself as a student hurt my chances of getting citizenship? Right now I got a job in Switzerland, right at the border with Germany. This is a temporary work contract for 12 months with maybe the option to get an indefinite work contract after those 12 months. I will earn more than enough to provide for myself in that time but my question is if the temporary work contract will hurt my chances? I would also like to mention that I have saved over 10’000€ in my German bank account and could therefore show them that I will have enough money as well as the financial support of my family so that I won’t need to apply for welfare in any kind in the future. Now what about me living in Germany and working in Switzerland: Will that hurt my chances in any way? I have heard that it is enough to just live in Germany but I have not read it written out in any kind.

And that is basically it. As you can see, this is a somewhat unusual case. Be aware: I would love to become a German citizen. It is my no. 1 priority in life right now and no matter whatever the cost might be: I want to become a German citizen. If you can help my with any of my questions, I would be so grateful! thank you in advance guys!

Edit: If you don’t know the answer but know some legal experts/lawyers that are qualified to answer me those questions, I would be grateful if you could give me their contact.
