I don’t agree with how awful people were to the kid/guy, but George Lucas is partially to blame for casting such a god-awful actor. He sucks in Jingle All the Way too.

Sad, I only read his mums piece in an article lately, seemed he was doing better and she cleared up a lot of the myths surrounding the effect of SW on him.
Reminds me of the guy who played Boner on of all things Growing Pains. He was Chekov’s son from the original Star Trek. He couldn’t shake the name Boner, and wanted to do other things in Hollywood. He was found dead from suicide. I wish I was his manager and told him to lean in to it. Give him his own clothing line. Hire him for a party movie where everyone yells Boner! And then give him the courage to do whatever. RIP my dude. Bone Stubone!

“Star Wars” child actor Jake Lloyd has been in a mental health facility for 10 months, his mother revealed.
Lisa Lloyd shared in a new interview that Jake, who played Anakin Skywalker in 1999’s “Episode I — The Phantom Menace,” began an inpatient program after suffering a psychotic break in March 2023 while she was driving him home from picking up food at McDonald’s.
“He said he wanted to turn the car off. And he turned the car off in the middle of the three lanes, and we were in the middle lane,” she recalled to Scripps News Monday. “There was a lot of yelling and screaming.”
Lisa said the incident caused a traffic jam, leading other drivers to call 911.
“The police got there, and they asked Jake some questions,” she remembered. “He was talking to them, but none of it made sense. It was all word salad.”
What a lovely caring mummy she is, spilling the beans on her sick child. Despicable woman.
I can empathize towards that.. I’ve had two psychotic breaks. Probably one of the scariest things you can experience as a human being. Losing your mind and entering the realm of insanity. I’m still in recovery several years later..

Twisting a positive story about Jake Lloyd having a significant mental health recovery after ten months in treatment into a nasty clickbait headline is just awful.

I’ve dealt with depression, OCD and anxiety for years. Nothing has helped it too much, but I’ve been lucky to never have a break.
My man’s man dad (hunter, wood worker, fisherman, handy, etc.) didn’t understand it, but he supported me.
This fall, he unfortunately got hit with depression and anxiety like a bag of bricks. He’s had suicidal thoughts and hasn’t wanted to get out of bed.
On the 7th of February, his girlfriend woke me up and told me we were on suicide alert. When I sat beside my dad while she packed a bag, he started wailing and apologizing for hurting me. He was in the midst of a breakdown.
We got him into the truck and I drove him an hour and a half to a mental health emergency department. He stayed for 9 days.
As someone who was there with the KFC Jar Jar glass and a hope in my heart, I hope everyone that has tormented this dude for the last 25 years directly or indirectly has a really bad case of shingles.
Now THIS is shock therapy!
Can we blame George Lucas for this? It’s definitely not Jake’s fault that episode 1 Anakin sucked. I feel awful how he got treated.

I saw him in a parade at Disneys Star Wars days. He did not look happy

When are we gonna realize that turning a child into a celebrity has serious implications on their future life. Look at all of the child stars!
And this is one of the chief reasons that, as a Star Wars fan, hate Star Wars fans.
