  2. OPEC controls 80% of the world’s proven oil reserves and is pretty much the only reason we talk to these countries at all. OPEC can end our entire oil industry by simply increasing oil production by just a few percentage points. It’s interesting that he is bragging about this because this is a conversation every US president has to have with OPEC almost every year.

  8. Most out of context clip ever! The reason he had to do this is because we had pumped so much oil it actually pushed the price per barrel into negative territory where brokers we actually having to pay companies to take the oil off their hands. There was so much oil that they had no place to store it, and oil tanker ships were idling at sea because there was no place to offload it. Love Trump or hate him. It doesn’t matter to me, but let’s at least have some semblance of truth.

  9. Yeah….this clip is out of context. If you watch thr whole speech it makes sense.

    Trump didn’t collude to increase your price at the pump.

    Long story short, there was excess oil production. He negotiated (to some extent) to reduce supply to level prices.

    This is because oil production is from a legalized cartel. (One of the few in the world)
