About time this sector gets regulated in favour of renters. Current market is wrecking lives and families.
While it’s good *something* is happening, the fine is far too low. This is more or less paying off a years worth of illegally gained rent. I don’t see anything suggesting the landlord will stop behaving this way – they were already in breach of a previous order. I imagine the landlord is still coming out on top here
Was he also forced to reverse the conversion? (Edit: Apparently yes), good result
Great news (although it probably should have been a heftier fine) and hope to see more of this sort of these crackdowns as they’re all over the city.
If any of you have suspicions about this sort of thing going on in your street, grass them up ASAP. Fuck these guys.
