Saw this one passing by on my way to work. Def Ghent!
“Uitgezonderd fietsen”. Yup, da’s in Gent.
Edit: gvd…. original OP has GVD in his nickname
There is still one of those in the coach museum in Bulskampveld, Bruges.
I’m not sure it’s for me, I wouldn’t be around to notice anyway, but I guess some people see it fitting to be carried to their final resting place in a Colruyt van.
No readable plates means Belgium, literally whose idea was it to put black letters on red base?
I knew this was Ghent as soon as I saw the cobblestone.
Even tho you can’t read the license plates, they seem to be of the form x-xxx-xxx which only is used in Belgium, they’re also white with black or red lettering, another confirmation of this being Belgian. I know other people pointed out more obvious things, but wanted to say this about the license plates.
I was gonna say looks like Hasselt but no It’s Gent
Rooigemlaan represent
For me, it was the terrace guard rails on the building.
I never saw the brown glass ones outside of Belgium.
They are typical on 60-70’s building.
Can I just say how goddamn cool it is the hearse drivers dress the part, down to and including black tricornes?
I’m sure the people who are mourning their loved ones don’t give a shit, they have bigger worries.
BUT, it’s a nice touch nonetheless. Some dude in a hi-viz jacket etc would look lame.
(sorry, history geek, I will go away now)
My father adk for this for his funeral… jockingly… three times.
Friend of mine lives in the building in the middle of the picture. 100 meters down the Road is what we call the ‘snack-kruispunt’. There is a Belchicken, a frituur and a New York pizza on 3 of the 4 corners of the intersection. Sadly enough the 4th corner is the parking of a Carrefour, someone should build a ‘kebabzaak’ there.

The van says colruyt group, so yes.
Yeah, I was zooming in a few minutes ago. The van has Colruyt on the side !
A reply by OP on the top comment of the original post confirms this is in Belgium. Edit: in another comment he says this picture was taken in Gent.
