“I’m leaving in June. It’s time for the change for Barça. Before the game you said that against big teams we are not up to it and look at today… If we had lost vs Napoli, you would be writing that I have to leave would be on the street!” – Xavi

  1. The curse against big teams started when even neymar was still around. It is not his fault, so he shouldnt take it personally when we cant really count on barça in every big away game. We lost that trust long ago and it will take time to regain that.

  2. I don’t get why such an experienced player and a world beater is too concerned with what media and fans have to say. As long as players and board have confidence in him, it’s all that actually matters. It could be argued though that being a manager and a player are two different things but in my opinion Xavi has doubts about his own capabilities more than anything else.

  3. Why is Xavi annoyed by what is written in press unless he also know this is the truth. Napoli are currently in turmoil, sacked coach before round of 16 match. I do not think this passes the big team litmus test.

  4. I have this feeling that Xavi’s departure has more to do with the board/dressing room than the media. He himself had been saying that he will leave the day he feels he has lost the dressing room. It’s difficult for me to accept that a person like Xavi was too naive to underestimate the media pressure on a big club coach.

  5. I don’t think this Napoli team counts as a ‘big’ team. They are in a pathetic situation right now

  6. Again with the wrong translation to paint Xavi as the arrogant one.
Context: Before the game media wrote articles saying that Barca is the worst team in champions league currently and if we lose Xavi would be sacked after the game itself.
And after barca won the same reporters were indirectly saying since Xavi is doing so good he should definitely stay.

Napoli is a big team now?
