They kidnapped and tortured his parents in occupied Luhansk to force him to betray Ukraine. russia is beyond shit and I can’t help but feel sorry for this guy who was faced with an impossible choice. Fuck russia.
Possibly the best outcome for him, he did what he had to do to save the parents, but nothing happened to the Ukrainian side. One can only hope the parents will be released now as they are useless, though I have very little hope.
I’m sure he’ll have some extenuating circumstances during the post war due process.
