This will be interesting. There are literally hundreds of videos and pictures of Ukrainian men being literally press-ganged by recruitment officials. They’re having to force people *now,* so how bad is that going to get with radically expanded conscription?
I expect a significant increase in men trying to flee the country.
There is a huge manpower discrepancy between Russia and Ukraine; one of the only reasons Russia hasn’t lost the war yet. Hopefully Ukraine gets all the manpower they need, and hopefully Western nations continue to provide maximum economic and military support to help Ukraine through this highly demanding situation.
People acting like it’s a huge scandal to draft people when your country is invaded… Of course a lot of people try to escape mobilization. If we had twitter in 1915, we would see the same thing
More Ukrainians have to step up. They have the manpower – there are millions of Ukrainian men who are in the age bracket of being capable for military service. A larger military is necessary just so that there are troop rotations.
I think it is really no matter of foreigners to discuss this. It‘s solely up to the ukrainian people to discuss and decide over mobilization.
Really don’t mind paying more taxes to get them well equipped and give them what they need.
Probably would have been a good call a year and a half ago. Especially when western funding was in full support and all.
