London knife crime: 100-man march against Croydon deaths

  1. March against knife crime, which killed 30 young men in London in 2021: 100 people.

BLM protests against police violence, which killed 1 young man in London in 2021: in the thousands.

  2. The best way to really stand a chance at combating knife crime is to increase police powers, police officers and funding. But if there are constant protests calling for a decrease in policing ability and funding then I really don’t know what you’re actually expecting to change.

Increasing prison sentences also isn’t really going to work if offenders are walking out of a court room with a £100 fine, 35 hour community order and 6 month suspended sentences.

  3. Really need respected members of these communities to take a stand and say violence is not the way. Unfortunately most of the respected members are rappers who make a large sum of money by rapping about violence and rivalries.

There are obviously 100 other issues at play which drive these horrible incidents but I feel not glorifying violence is a good place to start.

  4. Is 100 really all we can muster?

People really don’t care about young brown men and boys living in the city huh

  5. Tragic. Sadly the only ways to make any real difference in the knife crime epidemic is a lot of public investment in social services and infrastructure.

Which is never going to happen under the government that cut all the community outreach programs in the name of austerity.
