So as I understand it the reason the Germans aren’t willing to give this over is because it has a special fuse that makes the Taurus perfect for destroying bridges, and the Germans are concerned about the political fallout of a German missile being used to (finally) destroy the Kerch bridge, and Putin might see this as an unnacceptable escalation?
And they’re also very concerned about one of the missiles falling into Russian hands and beign reverse engineered because it’s got some special anti S-300 tech inside it which will make it uniquely good at evading Russian air defence systems.
Maybe/hopefully slapping a different flag (Dutch) on them and pretend that we are the ones sending them and not Germany is an option that could open up, as was proposed in the Dutch parliament earlier today. Sadly that would make the lead-time even longer.

The voting numbers doesn’t reflect the reality. The German parliament consists of many more YES votes. But not enough. But due to some political games some “yes” parties also voted no.

Here is what I think was going on:
* The government is against it. Scholz has stated this all over again, and had to reinforce it twice in a way that Der Spiegel quoted Tywin Lannister “If you have to say “I am the King” you are no king”.
* The descision lies with the goverment, no matter what the vote there now says.
* Since the govermental coalition has the majority, there are very, very likely not enough votes to be gained anyway.
This means that anyone in the coalition can either vote for something that won’t happen anyway, but damage their own goverment a lot and it would only get worse if the vote passes, and Scholz still denies Taurus – or create the appearance of a stable govermental coalition. It is no surprise most stand with Scholz’ position in this vote.
That vote was an obvious trap and posturing (mostly) by the opposition to appease what they consider future-voters in the next election.
This has nothing to do with Ukraine, it’s politics as usual.
The call for Taurus or no Tauris still lies at Scholz. “Careful or Coward?” is the descision everyone has to make indepently of this vote.
At least they voted 😉
