  7. I’m not going to make such a big deal out of this if it happens, but to be honest giving the #10 shirt to a 16 old kid just seems way too rushed. Let him build up some more experience and minutes under his name, then in a couple of years sure, why not. But right now it just doesn’t feel like the right time.

    Spanish federation rules force first-team players to use numbers 1-25. Retiring numbers effectively means shrinking the squad. There is no option to retire a number and substitute it for a different number.

    Retiring it doesn’t make sense. Barça’s number 10 as been used by some of the greatest players in history (not just Messi). We want future great players to wear Barça’s 10.

    In addition, number 10 is usually a winger/attacking midfielder/forward number. Who else do you want to wear it? I think he is right now the only candidate in the squad with a significant chance of being a starter with us next season.

  10. The number 10 comes with a lot of pressure. Just ask Ansu, the kid couldn’t cope up with the pressure at barca and just couldnt fit in. He’s on loan at Brighton now.

    Please let Lamine cook, he’s a miracle and has loads of potential. The jersey number hardly matters.

  22. I might be called crazy, but the pressure of wearing the #10 shirt is the least of my concerns. He’s maturing at a pretty terrifying rate; he’s conservative with his runs, he knows when to rile up the crowds, and he’s influencing the general play in a way Ansu Fati never quite did.

    It’s his game time that needs to be managed more carefully, rather than what shirt number he’s wearing.

  32. There’s no way the 10 gets retired and I really don’t think the iconic numbers should be retired. That aside I think it’s to early to give the 10 to Lamine.
    The only real reason to do it would be financial, I mean those shirts would sell out crazy, but from a sporting perspective I think there’s still growing he has to do before becoming that no.10 that we all know he will be. I’d personally like to see him with the 17 or the 14 first and then give him the 10 when he’s really ready for it.

  41. Are we really going to put that amount of pressure on a really young player again? I hope we wait until he is more mature and developed as a player and we don’t rush things this time.
