Oh hell yes, people are so fired up to get rid of the liberals in my neck of the woods. Housing crisis, rampant abuses of the immigration/international student debacle, addicts and criminals running amok. We’re on edge and looking for a way out.
Do you blame them? Hell, now they have police telling residents to pretty much keep their keys near the door so they can give them to home invaders.
The world sometimes seems like it’s becoming like an internet thread.
There’s side A which ridicules side B, side B which is frustrated at side A.. both sides growing more extreme and anyone pointing out the solution is probably finding a middle-ground between side A and side B is attacked by both side A and side B. Nuance is considered the same as being too like the enemy.
Screaming about the “Radical woke left wing extremists!” while the media splits the distance between sanity and whatever batshit trickle down theocratic hatesac bag of delusions radiates from the toxic madness that is contemporary Conservatism, and laments that the silent majority of “centrist” Canadians have been abandoned by Both Sides.
And the moment they decide exactly where all the reasonable folks should unite and agree…hang on, the right has yanked up the goalposts (again) and are dragging them out into the parking lot. Something about trans immigrants. The center shifts…and shifts…
Extremists on both sides.
My view is people don’t go right wing for the fun of it. A series of problems have to occurring in the country for this transition in mindset to happen.
Factors that create increasing levels of discontent amongst voters that the left wing parties are either too obvious to solve or are the very reason these problems exist in the first place.
You can more or less see identical trends throughout all of Europe, America and occasionally other Anglo countries.
The longer you ignore the problems the more extreme people become. If said trends continue then the future is looking very much right wing.
This is what happens when you lack the initiative to increase worker productivity and invite millions of immigrants to a already strained country with a poor infasctuture to stimulate growth and continue to uphold their real estate bubble. They’re taking the lazy way of growing their economy, and now they’re pissing off all their citizens by driving down real wages. Textbook example of how to prop up real assets in the short term the lazy way, make permits hard to get, invite millions of people over to prop up real estate and drive down real wages, rinse and repeat.
Canada going right won’t fix their housing crisis or demographic crisis or brain drain crisis or any crisis really but at least they might start being allowed to buy most guns again and get normal media laws
Well, the reason for this is pretty goddamn obvious lol. Us Canadians aren’t moving right to be more like the US, its because many are upset with how the country has been for the past couple of years.
I’m a Canadian and go to Uni here. It’s kinda crazy to see the huge shift of young ppl turning conservative, and honestly a big part of that is due to how badly the Liberals have done in the last few years.
Ik Reddit likes to argue that “poilievre (leader of conservative party) will be way worse!!!”, but whether or not you believe that or not, people are getting tired of the current leadership, and want a change.

Trudeau has been an absolute unmitigated failure on every level. He has decimated the standard of living for ordinary Canadians. Yes people are going to move to someone else because the devil we know is known to be complete garbage and actively working to destroy us.
Believe it or not, when the cost of living sky rockets and quality of live plunges, people get more politically polarized. Who’d of thunk it huh?
Wonder what could have caused this…
Maybe it has something to do with Canada’s…
– absolutely destroyed housing market (2x as expensive as the US)
– terrible job market (50% pay of US with far less options.. mostly just the government hiring)
– failing healthcare system (no one has a doctor.. waitlists for years)
– failing childcare system (average wait lists are about 2.5 years)
– extortionate grocery prices (far higher than the US if you can believe it)
– immigration in overdrive (bringing in 3% of the population every year from Punjab India.. so many working age Indian men that Canada’s gender demographics have actually changed)
– cratering business investment
– plummeting GDP per capita (same $$ per capita as 2014.. no joke)
– new legislation that will make online “hate speech” as defined by the government punishable by up to life imprisonment
– skyrocketing homelessness (US population in 2023 was 340M and they had 653K homeless, Canada’s pop was 41M and we had 235K homeless)
– “catch and release” criminal system that doesn’t punish nor incarcerate violent criminals (last week police in Ontario sent out a community memo saying people should just leave their car keys close to the door to prevent criminals from getting violent lol)
But hey! I’m sure Turdeau can’t destroy anything else before he gets thrown out.. right?? Right?
