The problem in Italy is old people. They just haven’t adapted and embraced modernity, not just in business terms but everything. Working in Italian companies compared to American or South Korean ones is insane. It genuinely feels like going back to the 80s/90s in terms of management and way of doing things. It’s the boomer meme times 1000. They hold all the voting, economic and social power in this country and haven’t made a single good decision since the 60s. And because we have the worst boomers our gen x and even millennials have been conditioned to think the same way.
A perfect example of boomer mentality is how hard they are trying to raise births, not realizing that we missed the boat by 20 years and it is totally useless now. What they should be doing is throwing everything they have in raising productivity and automation, so that we can just do more with less people in the future, following the Japanese model, but no, boomers still think it’s possible to convince women to start having kids like it was 1850. They’re just delusional.
