  1. I hope these don’t get damaged… And are actually working.

  2. Ok but what’s the point if there isn’t the manpower to follow up on the footage, the social programmes to reduce the crime at source, or the efficient court system to process offences?

I guess buying some CCTV cameras to stalk my nan is a lot simpler /s

  3. Don’t really see the point in this tbh. It’s just more unnecessary mass surveillance.

The crimes that really need to be solved like murders get solved anyway based on other evidence, and the crimes that the police don’t bother with, they still won’t bother with. Get punched at a bus stop? You’ll just get fobbed off by the police and told to get the CCTV yourself, which if you try, you’ll then be told you can’t because of data protection.

  4. this will be used to issue more fines eg smoking at the bus stop lol 🙂

  5. Safety my arse, it just means they’ve got it on film rather than prevent the crime

  6. Surely by now we’ve realised the solution is to spend more money on the police?? Or even better, on the upstream societal problems that lead to crime.

What’s the point in installing more cameras when the police aren’t resourced to do anything with the footage, the legal system has years long backlogs and prisons are full??
