  1. I live this scene for the humour alone. “So, what happens now?…. Do I get to wear that hat?”

Also if I’m not mistaken you can see the Irish vs British salute contrast when the flag is about to be lowered between Michael Collins and the Viceroy

  2. I never want to hear any anti vaxxer talk about how great micheal Collins was, them lads gave there life for their fellow Irish people, today’s idiots wouldn’t even take a jab in the arm for their fellow country people

  3. They had a historian on radio one during the week saying this scene specifically in the movie was a pure fabrication. There was no such ceromony, it was a much more gradual handover.

  4. The actor they cast as Arthur Griffith in this movie was a superb casting, genuine uncanny valley stuff it looked so like him.

  5. I know who you are, I know what you want. But you’ll never find me, and you’ll never kill me

  6. I thought that happened in 1997, but here my sense of time has been fucked over this past couple of years.

  7. I’m an American, so this might sound like an ignorant question. I’m sure they never gave you guys any reparations for the centuries of theft, murder and terror, but did they ever even squeak out any kind of an apology for it? Do they even acknowledge they were “the baddies” for 700+ yrs?

  8. The British shouldn’t feel ashamed, Liam Neeson can be a pretty intimidating individual, & from what I have seen of Neeson, I certainly wouldn’t want to get on his bad side.

  9. “…I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you.”

  10. I took her to movie and even better actor! I do love how most of the replies to this thread are about Liam Neeson and not really about the fact the Irish did manage to take back most of their country.

  11. Hard to believe he went on to be an actor after this even rescued his daughter when she got kidnapped thon time.

  12. Two actors that played Michael Collins in the same scene – Liam Neeson and Brendan Gleeson.

Nothing to do with Michael Collins but both actors’ surnames end in -eeson!

  13. I like this film a lot. Of course it takes it’s liberties but thats to be expected with a film like this. If you don’t go into it expecting a documentary and you keep in mind that they had to sell it to yanks and foreign audiences too in a Hollywood friendly package it’s a good aul film.
