The success of fascism depends on who opens the door to it. Anyone who claims that the judge should have known better than to make a martyr of Dries Van Langenhove and indirectly enrich Vlaams Belang is taking a big risk. When democracy is threatened, we must not give an inch. https://apache.be/2024/03/15/schild-en-vrienden-van-democratie

  1. The masses are usually stupid, we are guided by what we receive from the media, so the media is stupid. Whether it is the ‘real media’ or social media, they have in common that they respond to things that stand out. But you should never use that as a guideline on how to vote.

  2. “We must not open the door to fascism!” say the people who want to jail others for posting mildly offensive memes on the internet.

  4. Same with the idea people suggest of “give them power and watch them crash and burn”.

No, we’ve already tried that and learned the lesson the hard way.

  5. I’d rephrase that first sentence already as: The succes of Fascism depends on how self-absorbed People are by their own set of morals as the One and Only good ones, and how (in)flexible they are in listening to those with differing opinions. The succes of the extreme right AND left has, in my humble opinion, to do with a complete Lack of effort from both sides to take the others’ concerns seriously for years on end now. DVL and his buddies were not the root cause, they were a symptom, and Anybody with a brain saw this Titanic-esque resurgence of extremism coming for years, and those stubborn ‘PaRadiGms of GoOd’ (again, left and right) are equally complicit in it’s popularity…
