  1. French President Emmanuel Macron, responding to Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s new threats regarding Russia’s readiness for nuclear war, has stated that France is a “nuclear power” and it is inappropriate to make such threats when “you have nuclear weapons”.

  2. Never felt too strongly about Macron either way, but I’m really enjoying his recent spicy attitude. I hope more follow his example.

  3. I am French and I watched the entire interview last night, which was almost entirely focused on Ukraine (with a small part at the end about Gaza). The title of the article is misleading. Despite the sometimes insistent questions from journalists, Macron did not want to dwell too much on nuclear issues. He simply said that it protects the French and should not be used as a tool of destabilization, emphasizing the need to discuss it with caution. He added that France’s doctrine was clear and well-known. I think there was much more interesting content in this interview than this clickbait suggests.

  4. Just send more long range baguettes like scalp for Ukraine. They’ll do the rest.

  5. France doesnt fuck around regarding nukes.

France is one of the few nuclear states that doesnt rule out nuclear first use as part of their nuclear deterrance doctrine.

For this operate a completely indigenous nuclear arsenal including some very interesting *Pre-Strategic* Nuclear weapons like ASMP-A. As a medium yield option as functioning *Nuclear warning shot* with a yield somewhere around 10-20 times the power of the bombs that ended WW2.

They also have survivable secondary strike capability due to their 4 SSBNs with nuclear ICBMs. Of which always two are somewhere at sea. Their latest is very aptly named “Le Terrible”.

  6. Taking the title at face value (it’s clickbait, I’m aware), no one is ready for nuclear engagement. Countries may have their administrative and policy guidance for nuclear interaction, but they aren’t *ready*. The mental toll on a civilian population of a nuclear weapon being detonated anywhere by anyone is going to be colossal.

  7. With all the hate around macron the last few years, he for sure has the biggest balls when it comes to Russia. Mad respect

  8. He’s ready in a sense that he has a bunker filled with years of supplies and the rest dont.

  9. I like this guy, doesnt bend down to threats and stands up head high… this kind of leaders we need not some mambo jambo EU/UN sanctions and useless votings just for kind eyes .

  10. Putin’s too much of a coward. If Russia even attempted to nuclearise the conflict the regime would fall within days and Putin, if he survives, would meet the same sticky end as Milosevic
