France’s Macron says Europe must be ready if Russia escalates

  1. There is only one solution for stopping russian expansionism, to restore Ukrainian integrity and to bring back peace to our continent.

Sooner or later, Russia will have a winter like nothing seen before.

  2. All of Europe cannot be ready. This would directly connect the war to NATO. Since the USA does not want a direct NATO vs Russia war, USA will create a task force for NATO but independent of NATO and send it to Ukraine.

We were exposed to many Macron statements and videos in a short time. He was making very strong statements and poses. Like he’s wearing his en bataille. This means that France will lead the next phase of the war. Ukraine has reached its limits. It seems like, Poland will fight too. We sympathize with Poland. Whenever shit happens, it becomes Poland’s problem, sadly.

Unfortunately, Russia wins every war in which USA are not directly involved.

  3. Yeah yeah, people will really fight in Ukraine lol
Only the Polish who fight for revenge and maybe Baltic, nobody else will want to die there, at least in a big number… Hope this guy disappears from scene as soon as possible…

  4. In that Putin interview, when literally the first question asked was “why did you invade Ukraine?”, he starts with “back in 765AD…” and ranted for 30 minutes, I realised Putin has lost his marbles.

Looks like we are not dealing with a rational person anymore.

  5. I don’t like Macron I’m French and he is doing a lot of shitty stuff in the country but I have to say something he is so good when it comes to how he behave with the Ukrainian war.

I think he is right we must get ready just in case…

And people are shitting all over him saying he can go to war alone…

Those same people will cry in the streets saying we were not prepared…

  6. I think Macron is absolutely doing the right thing by making it crystal clear where France stands in regard to Putins genocidal regime and that anything short of the restoration of Ukraines territorial integrity is unacceptable. It’s especially important that he does it now at the point in time where the role of the US as a leader on the world stage and in NATO is no longer a given and it’s becoming increasingly likely that the EU will become the last pillar of freedom and democracy in the world. What is needed to stand a chance in that world is a determined and united Europe that has a common foreign policy and defense doctrine. It’s quite literally do or die for the EU. If we do not act now we might indeed be fighting Russia on European ground by the end of the decade. And if we do not prepare for that scenario now, if we are still as divided, unprepared and unorganized by then, we stand to lose that fight.

Macron understands this, but as long as he is the only one to take such an outspoken stance we’re still in deep trouble.

What is needed is to get the other member states on board. Starting with Germany. Also the UK needs to be brought back in the fold, not necessarily as a EU member, but at least as a close partner in a common defense doctrine especially tailored to a world where NATO is no longer a given.

Member states that are clearly opposed to the EU and its founding principles (Hungary) need to be cut loose by any means necessary. We simply cannot afford the risk they pose.

A EU wide defense spending target needs to be established as well as a defense budget on top of national defense spending.

The EU weapons industry needs to be strengthened and strategic reserves need to be developed.

A whole combat ready integrated EU army needs to be established. It must be immediately stationed along the borders with Russia.

All attempts to interfere in elections, the funding of political parties, bribing of officials, blackmail, the spreading of propaganda through media, social media etc. need to be fought tooth and nail. A large integrated intelligence apparatus needs to be established specifically geared towards this purpose.

A EU wide zero tolerance policy towards any and all cooperation with Russia for political parties needs to be enforced. Same goes for parties that do not intend to uphold democratic principles, equality for all or human rights. We simply cannot tolerate those who are trying to become Russia from within.

Ukraine must be supported by all and any means necessary. Firstly along the lines of the Estonian proposal: € 120bn a year in financial support for the duration of the conflict and unlimited access to every weapon available in the EU market and secondary by boots on the ground if necessary (according to Macron’s proposal).

It must be crystal clear to Putin that Europe will not bow. That a compromise is not an option and that there will be no negotiations. That his expansionist pipe dream will fail, no matter the cost. And that all damage they inflict will be repaid threefold.

It’s a tall order and undoubtedly there will be people who will question my sanity, but I truly think there are no acceptable alternatives.

  7. How many times Europe “de-escalated” in 2008-2023 years?

This number – Russian force of habit to unpunished escalation and number of future Russian escalations against the West.

  8. They already have launched full scale invasion. I don’t know how they can escalate more than that…

  9. Macron has been unexpectedly based lately. Are elections in France coming soon?

  10. Can’t see what Europe is waiting for or is afraid of. This is war. You’re in it.

  11. I’m Spanish and I think he’s completely right. Every European government should be alongside Macron in this.

  12. Nothing burger speech. Nobody will remember it in a week.

  13. How about to sit and talk and negotiate with putin instead of spreading fear to whole Europe to prepare for war? That would be the best scenario for all instead of prolonging the war in ukraine and people losing lives every day? I know it sounds crazy to all anti-Russians here but the longer we wait the more territory ukraine loses and the more lives are lost.
No one fu*ing wants to go to war! Negotiations must be the key, not war! It is pathetic how propaganda is so strong and the blame of this conflict is 100% on russia. Until we all see understand everyone’s input in this conflict and try to negotiate there will be no peace. Sorry but for me it seems more logical to have peace with all neighbours in Europe including russia than blindly supporting Americans interests that obviously are the cause for for all this hell now…I feel sorry for every life lost in ukraine but is their government to blame as well? Their politics before and during 2014? It is unbelievable to me how the whole Europe is playing innocent and putin is the only evil here. Everyone seems so pumped to go to war, unbelievable….

  14. Yeah, but he is the one that will not die on the front if that happens. It is easy to says things if you are not the one to die. I will flee Europe if that happens.

  15. then send your family first, this is a war where the people in charge won’t lose anything

  16. If they escalate? Krim was the beginning, Ukraine was the escalation

  17. Macron needs to settle down. Protecting Ukraine is not worth a nuclear holocaust, which is what will happen if the US and Russia have a direct war. If France charges into a war with Russia, it will be doing to without the protection of the US. Nuland’s firing tells us that the US is changing direction.

  18. It would be newsworthy if it were 2014. Thanks to Macron for speaking clearly anyway.

  19. With all the “Macron says f*ck you to Russia” headlines, it sounds **a lot** like Macron is “Borising” towards the next election cycle. e.i. Using his powers as the sitting president to rattle it’s nation sabre at the end of his term, in the hopes to settle an identity for the next election cycle…
