I know what part of the Bible it’s from.
I’m asking what translation is it from – what language is this? If it’s Old Czech, when was it printed? If it isn’t Old Czech, what language might it be? Ruthenian?
14.-15. century-ish? According to my 5 minute research.
it’s not old czech, it’s just czech but before any attempt to standardize grammar. My amateur guess would be end of 17th, early 18th century.
edit: so google tells me it’s 1825. W is a sign for today’s V, G is for J, while double SS meant Š since medieval times.
edit2: you can actually tell the time in which this was built by reading what is called “chronokryptogram”. If you count the capital Vs and Is and Ls and read them as roman numerals, you should come to the year this cross was erected. I did it now and im a hundred years short 😀 so im not sure where I’m wrong. Maybe the Ws come to play.
