Any attack on Russian troops in Donbass is suicide, more over Ukranians don’t want to pay such a huge price(even if we ignore Russian existence).
The real lesson is to upgrade certain weapon systems, and to stop wasting money on other weapons systems.
Caucasus its a totally different theather. On the Ukrainian plains the artillery and quick maneuver tactic still prevails.
Agreed. Ultimately it will be Ukrainians that die on the battlefield. They have to decide if this game of chicken is worth it.
They’re betting that Russia doesn’t attack because if they do, they probably lose a majority of the Ukrainian public for generations to come even if they hold sway over the territory.
If Russia does attack then how many Ukrainian soldiers will die? They simply have no chance without the US. It will be analogous to the first Gulf War. Ultimately they will surrender. Depending on when that happens the country could be destroyed.
They still hold a card with giving the separatists a seat at the table with the Minsk agreements. That seemed to be enough to abate the Russian fears.
I haven’t read anything about the state of the public in Ukraine right now but is there a chance that the government gets overthrown? Are people afraid? I find it suspicious that Poroshenko is coming back now.
The article, like many others, overemphasizes on the use Turkish UCAVs in the N-K war. There was more to Azerbaijan’s military success than just these drones. Its forces first had to deal with the Armenian defences and to do that they used a combination of systems and tactics. More than likely they used Israeli and Turkish electronic warfare systems to monitor radar signals and jam their sources. They baited the Armenian air defenses to activate their radars and give away their positions by sending cheap unmanned biplanes towards them. Then their positions were relayed to helicopters or land vehicles carrying SPIKE NLOS missiles (with 30km range) and to armed UCAVs. They also used the HAROP suicide drones which are able to home on and dive on radar sources. Azerbaijan would not just pull this off just by relying on the TB2s and certainly Ukraine can not achieve the same against Russia. Moreover, the Russian forces probably are capable of tracking and interdicting the control stations of these UAVs.
