  1. I can’t think of a worse situation to fight than the Ukrainian Marines are in Krynky – a small hamlet of buildings that get artillered constantly, fall back positions are a swamp in the winter. Supply is across a large river which means they are probably running short of things on a regular basis. There’s no roads through the swamp and so they have to drag their supplies forward by foot.

    And they do this all because the firing positions on the other side (the Ukrainian controlled uncontested side) are really optimal – so they basically are over the river as bait to force the Russians to come into range. And they stay in those conditions despite all of that because they know it helps Ukraine to tie up all those Russian troops who could be else where, who now have to be supplied at the very farthest part of the logistical network and expose themselves to the Ukrainian firing positions on the other side of the river to advance and attack the Marines.
