  4. 1:50 The lack of reflections of the children in the window-panes doesn't sound like much of an issue. The paned door is not standing right behind them, at right angles to the line of sight – if you look closely at the photo in full, it becomes clear that the door is slanted away from them at something like 40 degrees – meaning that it's going to reflect light coming from the garden. rather than the kids. Also, looking at the paving, underneath Kate and the chair, and their faces, it's clear that the photo was taken with a slight "crane angle" from something like 30-40 degrees above the plane going through the heads of Kate, Louis and Charlotte.

    It's not a photo taken right front at chest height – William (most likely) is holding the camera at a position with a "sloping plane" down towards them, possibly using a selfie stick. This is often done in selfies and on TV, to avoid making somebody look "squat" and instead emphasizing the face (I think the photo has been cropped slightly from an original bigger size). This is also why the legs of Kate and Louis appear relatively short vs their upper bodies.

  5. It's a big deal, the things people come up with. I hope everybody learned something about the people who somehow made this about themselves as they gawk, pry or profit from other people's public and, or private lives.

  10. If the imperfections were so minor, why bother editing it at all? Why not release the original? It wasn’t positing it on instagram that was the problem. The problem is that it was released to the press – which have standards about altered photos. The palace press folks should have known all this. They set Catherine up to look real bad here

  18. The woman presenter circled George's hand (instead of the hand that was supposed to be Kate's left hand) when she said that Kate was not wearing her wedding ring. Did not mention Louis' mangled right hand.

  21. The palace has a long history of leaking false information. Now, someone – maybe or maybe not Kate – materially altered a photo and then released it to international news organizations as being legitimate. It may be the final straw – the palace losing credibility with the press and public for a very long time.

    The photo was meant to quiet rumors of marital discord (search “prince of pegging”), William’s drinking, Kate’s health issues, etc. So much for that.
