  1. Does anyone know what we average with hospitalisations in a heavy Flu season?

Would it be about 500-800 people at any one time?

I couldn’t see Tony and NPHET signing off on anything that won’t reflect a typical heavy Flu season (this is good)

(Pasted some of this from my post yesterday)

    – Spain have said they’re going to start treating this as a Flu outbreak from now on

    – The last data I saw said Omicron now has around a 1 in 300 chance of hospitalisation

    – This is down to it being much less of a bastard to deal with and vaccine/booster uptake

    – This is **TINY** compared to wave 1 of Covid that had a CFR of – at one stage – about 2% in Ireland

    And to add new ones:

    – Original Covid or Delta (I forget which) had a hospitalisation rate of 5-7%

    – Let’s say one in 20 for easy Maths

    – Versus the one in every 200/300 (depending on the study) we have with Omicron

Using even rough back of napkin Maths, we’re 10 times better off now than we were with OG Covid and Delta

What an amazing fucking week overall

  2. Ah of course they wait until I decide to stay in the weekends to save money

Well I guess that ain’t happening now, time to stay broke in the name of fun

  3. All those poor feckers who relocated to Leitrim and Donegal who get a call to come back to the office next month for team building etc

  4. Why am I reminded of tat scene from jaws when the rednecks are getting on the boat and Dreyfuss’ character laughs and says “they’re all gonna die”

  5. Does this mean we no longer need Wickerman and his “Oh Shit” comments, I’ll miss that. Thank you for your consistency throughout the pandemic case number updates, the real hero in all of this.

  6. This is great, getting married in 4 weeks and to be honest we were shitting it over Xmas due to Omnicron.

Having a celebratory Guinness as I type this 🙂

  7. Literally WHAT is the reasoning for pushing the serfs to get back into their cars/buses/trains and back into the office when we know full well after 2 years that plenty of work can be done from home? To the same standard if not better, even.

Do we have to pretend that we learned nothing from this pandemic? That *nothing* changed for the better?

Does going back to “normal” mean we have to go back to exactly the way things were pre-Covid?

    Total b*llocks.

  8. So after two years of covid and never getting it, I just done a test and I am now confirmed as having covid

Just in time to sit and watch all guidelines get removed

I don’t think I could of fucking timed that any worse

  9. Office clothes in shops, aaaaannnnnndddddd there goneeeeeee.

They will have to drag me back in kicking and screaming.

Might even change job if it’s not mostly remote.
