Global concern as Israel says will fight during Ramadan unless Hamas frees hostages • FRANCE 24

For senior reporter Katherine Norris Trent who joins us now from rala Katherine just tell us a bit more about this sense of international concern for the people living in Rafa what have you been hearing well the un’s coordinator humanitarian coordinator for the Middle East there speaking to us really

Outlined the concerns and he’s been on the ground on numerous missions to Gaza since this war started and seen it firsthand this huge city which has sprung up in the in the southern area of Gaza where nearly one and a half million people have flooded in living in the

Most precarious conditions in tents there’s not enough food he talked to us about how the aid tracks trucks that they are managing to get into Gaza which is a very long and tricky process often they’re attacked by protesters on both sides of the Border well as soon as they

Get through they’re often set upon and looted by people desperate for food and armed gangs so he’s is extremely concerned about delivering Aid where it’s needed right now but he outlined you know this echo’s concerns in the rest of the International Community just what a catastrophe that could be going

Forward if there was a ground offensive there as Israeli government Minister Benny gance has said Could Happen by the month of Ramadan next month and there are also fears you know not just from the daily and nightly bombing and lack of food and water but about secondary problems to do with disease and

Malnutrition and people there dying basically because they can’t get the care that they need so really underlining there the concerns of the UN and of large parts of the International Community about the increasingly dire situation in Gaza okay well thank you very much indeed for that France 24 is

Katherine Norris Trent in rala thank you

Deadly fighting raged on in Gaza on Monday after Israel warned that, unless Hamas frees all hostages, it will push on with its offensive during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, including in the far-southern Rafah area. Global concern has mounted over the fate of 1.4 million Palestinians who have been forced into Rafah near the Egyptian border, enduring bombardment and dire food shortages as they live in crowded makeshift shelters and tents. FRANCE 24’s Catherine Norris Trent reports from Ramallah.

  1. Why do you blame Israel? Hamas started the war with 7 October Massacre in one of the holiest holidays for the Jewish people- “Simhat Tora” , it’s very simple if Hamas will free all the hostages and surrender, the war will end!

  2. Israel didn't start this. Nothing protects a month of religious observation anywhere. Religions are created by humanity as a way out of their own errors.

  3. This serves as a stark reminder of Pharaoh's unyielding arrogance and his response to the various trials and tribulations. His defiance only led to a further deterioration of his situation until his ultimate downfall.

  4. Never expect the UN to speak on behalf of hostages
The UN sides with Hamas, UNRWA fights with Hamas

  5. This American wishes we would stop giving NuttyYahoo any military assistance and give it to Ukraine. Twenty eight thousand noncombatants have been slaughtered. When does the IDF call it even?

  6. Remember the Arabs attacking on Yom Kippur the holiest say of the Jewish year? Oct 7 was also a Sabbath and the Jewish festival of Simchat Torah. You are taking hypocrisy to a new level. Try some simple research.

  7. Have these "concerned" Hypocrites forgotten that Hamas attacked and committed vile atrocities against Israel on October 7th, during the Jewish HOLIDAY of Simchat Torah?!?! Who cares about their pathetic concern?
