Rishi Sunak sidesteps question on whether strikes against Houthis will be ‘prolonged’

But would he however agree that in order to protect civilian uh shipping this may need to be may need to be a prolonged and persistent targeted campaign alongside our allies prime minister Mr Speaker I can thank my friend Ron friend for his uh question I just want to be absolutely clear that no

Decision has been taken to embark on a sustained campaign of the nature that he mentioned these were limited uh strikes specifically in response to threats that we perceived um but we do reserve the right to take action in self-defense as I’ve said but crucially the military

Action is just one part of a broader strategy diplomatic sanctions and others we will use all levers to bring about an end to the disruption and the illegality that the hoties are causing

The UK prime minister has delivered a statement in the House of Commons after the UK and US led strikes against the Houthis in Yemen and the Red Sea. Rishi Sunak was asked whether the campaign may need to be ‘prolonged’, to which he said no decision had been taken on further action. The government reserved the right to act in self defence, he added. The US-UK attacks were the second round of strikes against the Houthis after the group began attacking ships in the Red Sea.

  1. Another war criminal produced by Britain, this time completely unelected. I expect he'll recieve a peerage and a knighthood for his service.

  2. This PM unlikely jumping into the fire 🔥 of War, just supporting N yahoo, and damaging our country, N yahoo is war criminal and he is the person who destroyed his country by his bad and wrong policies, he is from Holland and in next few weeks he will flee away.

  3. Sunak came into this world in turmoil, when he was on his way their was a life threatening incident, his ears got caught on the way out. Even today he wraps his ears around his face to avoid answering

  4. He didn't ask Parliament before the attacks because he knew the British people would have refused as with Syria, still not long now before the unelected worm is gone

  5. Two clueless leaders. Sunak would rather give tax payers money to fund war's, there are people in the UK who are struggling to survive with all the bill's, no NHS and no help from our joke of a government, its a disgrace. The people should come first and Sunak, Biden and Netanyahu should be in prison for Genocide and funding Genocide.😡😡😡

  6. The British state is over its head in debt, £2.7 trillion, yet these creeps borrow more money for warmongering in Ukraine, Palestine, Yemen & elsewhere, all in pursuit of the US' crumbling hegemony.

  7. Sunaka is scared it will come out about his wife's family connection to the steel industry they hold shares in it.. Have done for a long time

  8. The fact is he did not inform the speaker of the house until after the attack took place so he acted without parliament approval. As for stopping ships no one made a effort when only last year a single ship capsized in this very ocean and region causing a serious issue.

  9. Once again we send in our military without any clear objective or exit strategy. If Sunak is hoping this will distract the public from his failings at home, he is very much wrong.
