King Charles Expected at Trooping the Colour – Could Princess Kate Join Him?

The King is set on attending this year’s Trooping the Colour, his official birthday celebration, if his health allows it.

Staff are already looking into options for how King Charles could participate while managing his ongoing cancer treatment.

This might involve the King watching the military event from a podium instead of his usual horseback position.

In the traditional ceremony, the monarch typically rides horseback from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards Parade via The Mall to inspect the troops.

The King announced his cancer diagnosis on February 5, and although he is thought to be doing well he may have to be driven in a carriage or watch the military spectacle from a podium rather than on horseback.

A definite decision won’t be made until closer to the event due to the King’s condition, and it will rely on medical advice.

  18. I hope she doesn't join him. She originally said she'll return after Easter. She shouldn't have to return early just to silence everyone. Her health is far more important than being seen. Get well, Princess Catherine and we will see you when you're well and return to the public eye.

  24. I could have explained this to you using basic common sense. He will be present. He just has to suit up and stand there and make his balcony appearance at the end. He just probably won't inspect the troops on horseback. Catherine most likely will be present as usual.
