  1. Great — next draft law to send entire billions to Ukraine.

Terrorist war criminal murdering regime must forfeit all monies so Ukraine is able to purchase weapons to defeat them! Makes perfect sense to me.

    Slava Ukraini!

  2. i’m a little bit confused. are they planning to tax the interest on the frozen assets? so if the yield on 260b is 12b, they’d impose a 25% tax on the 12b to deliver 3b and add 9b to the balance? why not just tax it at a 100% rate minus the inflation rate?

and what do they plan to do with frozen assets of the other sanctioned entities?

does europe plan to give the money back to russia or are seriously afraid of being sued by russia? how does that even work? better to confiscate the money now and apologize later. that would be like the axis powers suing the allied powers at the end of ww2.

i do see the benefit of a tax making it legally tight, but this is war. maybe the tax arrangement would be more suitable for all the other frozen assets, but the russian central bank assets should be fully confiscated. it isn’t like they need it anyway. they claim to be doing just fine.
