To have a strong military is essential to prevent war, if no one thinks you are weak prevents for someone like Putin to attack you as recent times show.
Pacifism is flawed in Nature because you need everyone to be 100% Pacifist and will never stop to be anything else.
As a german i understand the deep reluctance to seriously consider building up a strong military.
The Bundeswehr is embarrassing to me and most of the public, the soldiers are not the problem but not suprising anyone, the german goverment and a combination of useless and expensive bureaucracy and insanely slow acquisition and awarding of contracts to defense companies.
The European market is incapable of running a war economy. If Michel wants a war he will have to wage it within European borders first.
I see this all the time and the question I have is, with who? The guys who are throwing their entire population and economy into invading one country and not even succeeding? I think we’re fine.
