Armenia don’t have no choice. Russia is the closest thing they’ve got to a friend (other than Georgia).
I don’t see how Armenia’s alignment in South Caucasus changes until normalizing relations with Turkey and reaching peace with Azerbaijan. Right now (or at least until Pashinyan arrived) Armenia lacks agency and was acting simply to appease Russia. To gain agency they need not only a change of mentality but also they need to go in that path for some time.
