Tesco changing their “Clubcard price” logo due to Lidl lawsuit. I’ve never made the connection before, am I stupid?

  1. Me neither. I don’t think you could realistically walk into a Tesco and think they were trying to be Lidl due to those labels.

Mind you, “clubcard price” shouldn’t be a ‘thing’ anyway.

  2. I try not to shop at either.

    Tesco/Lidl 😏✋

    Asda/Aldi 😌👉

  3. Yet it’s somehow okay for lidl and aldi to knock off a bunch brand?

  4. No, but when it comes to branding and logo design, these things are usually more subliminal. Lidl claimed that Tesco were taking advantage of the value offering Lidl represents, by using the yellow circle that people would typically relate to the Lidl brand.

  5. Imagine being successfully sued for copyright infringement by fucking Lidl of all people. That’s just embarrassing.

  6. I’ve never made the connection either.

But I have with all the inhouse brands that lidl rip off.

  7. Never made the connection either. Surprised this went in Lidl’s favour

  8. Sometimes I wonder if these logo/ trademark infringement lawsuits are just a reflection of how stupid a chunk of the population is which makes companies have to take action just in case someone suddenly thinks Tesco is selling Lidl products

  9. the design looks gash anyway, tesco are better off with a rework

  10. Say what now? I’ve never looked at lidl and thought “hmm that looks like tesco’s clubcard”. This is ridiculous ngl.

  11. This was a weird one, especially with all the dups Aldi and Lidl sell.

  12. Fuck me. Yellow shape on blue shape…

Next Ukraine will be sued by Lidl 🇺🇦

  13. Looks more like a lottery ball to me.

Hope Camelot send me the winning numbers in return for opening this case up for them

  14. Never saw the connection.

    It’s a circle (common shape)

Bright yellow (common colour and bright so it stands out)

Contrasting writing inside (needed for information)

Why would that make me think of Lidl? Some of the products sold in Lidl on the other hand do make me think of brand names.

Is it because it’s on a blue background? But Tesco logo is blue so I didn’t think anything if it.

  15. I hope the redesign is just a green circle around the yellow one.

  16. Normal people won’t notice or care. Corporate lawyers just smell an opportunity for money. If it makes the news and makes the other side look bad then it’s a win-win-win.

  17. I do appreciate the audacity of a firm like Lidl, whose entire product line passes off on the brand identity of existing popular products, taking a stance against their own branding being copied.

  18. I dislike Tesco and I FUCKING HATE CLUB CARDS.

Fuck you for tracking my shopping habits in exchange for something to cost what it is meant to cost.

So I’m somewhat happy… But then LIDL introduced tracked parking at the local shop.

  19. No, you are not stupid, I have never seen the allusion either.

  20. Seems a bit hypocritical given that Lidl never rip off other brands for their own stuff….

  21. Hope they dont go for yellow stickers next, half of the country would starve.

  22. Got a new Tesco Express in my area recently, few mins up the road from lidl. Couple weeks ago my kid asked why lidl is advertising outside the new Tesco. Took me a minute, but yeah I can see it.

  23. I don’t think I’ve ever been in Lidl, so I can’t say I’ve ever been confused, but surely there must be more obvious characteristics within the stores to differentiate between them?
