[Mirror] Major security breach as hospital staff attempted to access the Princess of Wales’ private medical records

1. Terribly bad idea. It’s definitely a career ender and it’s quite possible the ICO will prosecute the individuals involved.

2. How on earth did they think this wouldn’t be audited?

3. This is disgusting and the individuals involved should be sacked without question. Everyone deserves medical confidentiality. It’s the most basic tenet of healthcare in any capacity.

4. Disgusting behaviour. Everyone has the right to medical privacy and having very intimate and sensitive information looked at by random nosy people is such a violation.

5. It says everything about the state of UK press that my first thought was “Hmmm, I wonder which paper was paying them?”

6. Has to be sackings all round. Potentially criminal investigations. Doesn’t matter who the patient is, you can’t do that.

7. Absolute idiots. I work at a nhs trust and apart from the fact we have to do a yearly online e learning about data protection.

   When I am on my patients notes reading their operation notes or ANYTHING it has what time and date with my name I accessed it on the bottom of the page as a digital thumbprint.

   *edit* must add I am on the op note as part of my job

8. That knocks at least a grand of the average stay cost, looks like a new exclusive hospital will be found

9. If people won’t believe the Royals at all, will they believe members who aren’t in the RF?

10. I’d be interested to learn if this is just a case of dumb noseiness or if money has changed hands with certain tabloids.

12. How any staff member could be so stupid as to access high profile people’s medical records & think they’d get away with it? Never mind it’s so disgustingly intrusive- they probably wanted to try to make money out of it . Vile cretin. Access to any medical records are audited anyway for us normal folk. Records of high profile people the systems flag up immediately whose accessed them & it is monitored carefully esp in the case of Royalty & similar . Last place I worked staff who ended up as patients – their records also access monitored & recorded. I’m sure it’s the same everywhere & it also warns you about accessing them. I hope the book is flung violently at the person.
