Reckless Germany is making war in Ukraine more likely

  1. This is such a dishonest take that it might be characterized as an outright spin.

It is not Germany, but US and the UK that insist on doing the very things Russia wants to stop, even by force. Arming Ukraine by Western powers is something that has been brought up as a red line by Russia over, and over, and over again.

They are justifying this by saying that this is deterrence, but deterrence happens in the minds of the adversary. Whether this is deterrence depends on how it is perceived by the Russian leaders, and they quite obviously see it as a provocation rather than as deterrence.

It’s an absurd situation where Russia is basically saying “We’re going to attack Ukraine if you keep doing this”, but UK/US is trying to spin it as “We’re deterring Russia by doing this”. It does not compute.

Now one could argue that it is in Western interest to be a thorn in Russia’s side and help Ukraine inflict as many casualties as they possibly can in order to weaken Russia. One could also argue that it’s a moral obligation to help Ukraine defend itself and that this alone is enough to act on.

These are both valid arguments, but stop dishonestly calling this deterrence.

  2. UK supplying plane loads of weapons to be used on Russian armor and infantry…while Germany denies the UK over-flight, so British planes have to take the long way to drop their loads in Ukraine…but Germany is the baddie. Understood. Thanks.
