  1. Surprised and impressed by the response from the council so far!

  2. > the local councillor suggesting they ‘shouldn’t have bought a house so close to a music venue’.

Finally, a councillor with a spine.

    > They added: “We now feel trapped in our own home when the live music nights are on as the crowd has been known to be hostile and we have no peace and quiet.

Is the crowd “hostile” for no reason? There’s definitely more to the story and the article is just one-sided.

  3. Good on Councillor Anthony Malloy

*”The resident is calling for no live music or recorded records on any weekday night, only on Saturdays from 8pm until 11pm – including band warm up time – as well as the outdoor space to be closed at 9pm every day and all exterior doors to be shut at all times.”*

One family are trying to adversely affect 100s of people (attendees to the pub and workers) simply because they didn’t do their due diligence when moving to the area.

  4. “I can’t believe how noisy this house I bought next to a pub is”

    Ridiculous

  5. I’m curious as to where this house is. The pub is next to a cemetery and opposite a school. The nearest obvious residential unit is a low-rise block of flats over the road to one side that’s been there since the 60s. The only candidate I can see is a property in the mews round the back that looks to be a converted commercial property. In which case they chose…poorly.

  6. Glad that councillor has a backbone. Got zero sympathy for people like that, who know the venue is there and choose to live next to it.

There’s been a big issue just like this where i’m from (Manchester) because someone bought a flat next door to a well known music venue.

  7. > 8pm until 11pm – including band warm up time

I’ve played a lot of gigs in London and this is simply not workable. With 3 or 4 bands playing you usually have to start around 5 to allow time for everyone to soundcheck.

  8. Like buying a house close to a 200 year old working farm and complaining about the smell of cow shit.

  9. If only there was someone whose job it was to defend the London nightlife! Like a nightlife watch lady but with a catchier title
