For the unaware, the crosses on top of the spires are makeshift till the originals get resored. The cathedral suffered substantial damage in the recent earthquake and pieces of the spire detached and fell down. You can see the top of one spire detached and put on the ground next to the church. If you’re there you can see it close up.
Just been there on the Christmas Eve, evokes fond memories of the city!
Is that right tower ever not under construction?
Luckily I think (idk) wasn’t that much affected by the earthquakes in 2020, yet, ironically, what happened to Nôtre Dame was a greater disaster made by human fault, even if had survived sieges and other natural disasters.
One of my favourite cities I have visited so far! Incredibly beautiful and lovely people.
