I can understand Finland wanting to join (a fair proposition) but Sweden? I thought their national character is interlinked with their neutrality?

NATO is not threatening war, invasion and annexation of countries, so of course smaller nations see NATO for what lt is. An alliance against Russia.
Edit: I do not really understand the Russian tactic.
Does nothing to secure the safety of the nation and its economy is threatened by existing or potentiel sanctions. There is no or very little communist ideology left to sell as an alternative.
Instead kick out the smaller parts that never wanted to be Russian. Acknowledge the borders and join NATO. China would get so frustrated it would divert billions of investment money into Russia to grow its economic ties and secure influence.
Slightly sensational title since Sweden and Finland aren’t planning to join Nato at the moment.
Also one Russian cargo plane (not planes) flew over Finland with abnormal course, but it didn’t violate the airspace. Broken Norwegian sea cable news story is from November 2021.
