Got the following email from office security: [https://imgur.com/a/8mwqPry](https://imgur.com/a/8mwqPry)
Detc . We have the same problem in Greater Manchester
A real officer will get offended by being challenged and a fake officer will already have your phone in their pocket.
That’s the old design for the Met warrant card. Some people will still carry it, but the overwhelming majority will have the new one which looks very different.
Which weirdly I can’t actually find a corporate posted example of from a quick google search. Will have a coloured band vertically down the left side.
[Edit: Here you go.](https://www.met.police.uk/SysSiteAssets/media/images/central/advice/fraud/met/project-fortress.jpg)
Call 101 😂 And wait an hour for them to answer. If you think you are dealing with a fake officer you should just call 999 as it’s a crime on going with immediate risk. They can verify if the officer is real or not far quicker than 101.
101 is just 999 call handlers who happen to be available when it’s quiet enough or used to be at least.
Wait, so that wasn’t the wallet inspector?
Sarah Everard was murdered by a policeman who showed her his valid warrant card. Women are now petrified either way. There are no tips that help us.
Probably more reliable than the actual met.
>A genuine Police ID cannot be copied
OK good luck with that
Northumbria, about 30 yrs ago, also had a braille pattern on their warrant card, nice touch, literally
Just start filming them, a real officer can’t object and if they are fake they are probably gonna let it
Lol at the being asked for money bit. What fool is giving up cash to somebody before thinking “this doesn’t seem right”.
This is great advice. As a police officer in a force not the Met, we have the ability to call our control room on our radio, and our control room will read out our force number and name, the place we’re currently tracking, and what time we’re supposed to finish our shift so the member of public can hear this. It’s not perfect but if it helps people feel safe…
Where are these being reported?
I’ve always wondered why they haven’t integrated QR codes into police ID cards yet.
Scan the code which then takes you to [police.uk](https://police.uk) website that shows the same details / photo as the physical card so that you know it can’t be faked. I bet 99% of people couldn’t distinguish a real vs. fake police ID and a hologram is hardly a strong security feature.
If the US can implement it for [weed](https://cannverify.com/), we can do it for the police.
