  1. To be 100% honest, yes, the response to Russia is rather tame. I understand Ukraine is technically not an official ally, and the US has no obligations to defend it, but just imagine a scenario where China is massing troops near Taiwan(who also isn’t an official ally), you will be seeing 4,5 carrier strike groups speeding to Asia, the 7th fleet in forward position, Japan/Australia put on red alert and maybe even the British Royal Navy will be mobilized.

The US is typically a bit more hawkish, so from Putin’s perspective, it can indeed seem like NATO is being soft.

  2. Ironically these people *would* be fighting each other a lot more if Russia and China were not making such a fuss causing them to unite.

It seems to be an oddity of populist tyrants that, they’re very machiavellian when getting themselves in to power, but on the international stage they have the subtly of Gollum chasing a ring.

  3. Ahh yes, the “powerhouse” that is Russia, where military spending is $48B and GDP is $1.6T, versus four small and insignificant allies whose military spending is $900B and GDP is $33T (SIPRI & IMF).

It’s amazing the power and strength Russia manages to portray itself as having in the minds of a lot of people, they are on par with South Korea in nominal figures, and still fairly unremarkable in adjusted figures.

  4. I like how everyone in this sub is quick to shit on the US or UK, but I sure don’t see too many pan-Europeans lauding Macron’s advocacy for a US-EU split. Where’s your European army now? You gonna get the Finns or Swedes to join?

This comic isn’t entirely wrong. We gonna make some big deal about some subs being sold to Australia, but overlook when France goes off and does De Gaulle things again when it’s not the time and place to do it.

  5. People should stop overestimating russian power, it has the GDP of the benelux for 7 time the population, an extremely weak currency, an AIDS crisis, a demographic crisis, massive problem of drug abuse, alcoholim, highest suicide rate in europe and massive corruption.

Yeah they flex muscles but that’s it, those muscles are just balloons. Putin can’t go to war over the east of the Dniepr, it’s miserable gains for such a big riks.

  6. Sure, if you’re looking at this from Putin’s point of view, he thinks this. But did the artist forget that the US spends over $700Billion on defense each year? The UK might be a cluster Fuck at the moment but the rest of Europe is one united front on this one issue. Putin just doesn’t care about the losses Russia will incur if they went to war, but the European Countries do so they don’t want to. But that doesn’t mean they won fight back

  7. Except for the fact that Russia spends a small fraction of what the others are spending on military. Its should really be Putin sitting in the bumper car and the others in the tank.
